Facebook Live Streaming
Facebook Live Streaming is a live video broadcasting feature that allows individuals, businesses, organizations, and event organizers to stream video directly to Facebook. It enables you to connect with your audience in real time, interact through comments and reactions, and share important moments as they happen.
Facebook Live Streaming using vMix
1. Camera Inputs
Everything starts with the input devices.
Camera 1 – Speaker Close-up
- Focuses on the presenter.
- Used during speeches or panel discussions.
- Connected via HDMI or SDI.
Camera 2 – Wide Stage
- Captures the complete stage.
- Shows presenters, LED screens, podium, etc.

2. Presentation Laptop Input
This laptop provides:

3. Document Camera Input (Optional)

- Small objects
Connected via HDMI or USB.
2. Audio Inputs
Audio comes from several sources.
Examples include:
- Wireless handheld microphones
- Wireless lapel microphones
- Wireless Headset microphones
- Podium Microphones
- Laptop for Music playback
These signals enter the Audio Mixer using XLR or Line Input.
3. Audio Mixer
The audio mixer combines every sound source.
It performs:
- Mixing
- Volume balancing
- Equalization (EQ)
- Compression
- Noise Gate
- Delay
- Monitoring
From here:
- One output goes to the PA System
- Another output goes into vMix
This keeps both audiences hearing clean audio.
4. Headphones
The sound and streaming engineer monitors audio using headphones.
This helps detect:
- Noise
- Echo
- Distortion
- Microphone issues
- Feedback
before the audience hears them.
5. Amplifier / Audio System
The mixer sends audio to the amplifier.
The amplifier powers:
- PA Speakers
- Stage monitors
This audio is only for the people inside the venue.
6. vMix Production System (Center)
This is the heart of the entire setup.
Every input reaches vMix.

7. Program Feed to Facebook (Green Arrow)
Once production is complete, vMix sends one final Program Feed sending to Facebook
Instead of remote attendees seeing raw camera feeds, they see the professionally mixed output, which may include:
- Camera switching
- Presentation slides
- Graphics
- Speaker titles
- Picture-in-picture layouts
- Videos
This creates a broadcast-quality experience for online participants.
8. Remote Audience (Joining Facebook Live)
Remote attendees join the YouTube Live and receive:
- Professional video from vMix
- Mixed audio
- Presentations
- Graphics and branding
They experience the event as a polished live broadcast.
9. Recording
At the same time, vMix and all cameras records the event locally.
Benefits include:
- Backup copy
- On-demand viewing
- Editing later
- Uploading to YouTube or other platforms
Recording does not interfere with the live stream.
10. Program Output to Venue
The blue line labeled Program Output (HDMI/SDI) carries the final mixed video from vMix to the venue’s display system.
This output is typically connected to:

The in-person audience sees the same polished program that online viewers receive.
11. In-Person Audience
